Indoor Attractions Reopening in Hertfordshire

Alex Valentine
14th May 2021

Put away your weather apps, we can finally begin planning days out that can’t be cancelled by the wet weather! Our iconic indoor attractions can begin to reopen from the 17th May, and you can start planning days out in museums, spas, and so much more safely and securely. If you’ve forgotten how lucky we are to have so many iconic attractions for days out on our doorstep, we’re here to remind you of the gems we have in Herts.

Goodbye rainy day al fresco brunches and windy walks in the garden - it’s time for our businesses to open their doors again...

Please be sure to follow government guidelines when visiting, always check the website for the latest opening and booking information and take a look at our top tips to #RespectProtectEnjoy Hertfordshire.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter

Welcome back wizards and muggles! The Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter is back from 17th May for the ultimate journey behind the scenes of the Harry Potter universe. Step into Great Hall, run through the Forbidden forest or take a wand-er down Diagon Alley – all while marveling at the scale and detail of the actual sets, costumes and special effects that went in to creating the most successful film series of all time. Needless to say, it’s a pretty magical day out for the whole family...

Knebworth House

We’ve made excellent use of their glorious gardens and admiring the stunning architecture of Knebworth House from afar, but it’s time to explore the house once again from 22nd May! Opt for a guided tour of the stunning Jacobean house where their knowledgeable guides will tell you the stories of Knebworth’s long history – and uncover the family’s contribution to literature, politics and foreign service, and visits by characters as diverse as Charles Dickens and Winston Churchill.

The Grove Hotel Spa

The stunning restored period house set in 300 acres of serene Hertfordshire countryside makes for a magnificent luxury retreat, but you don’t need to have a staycation to enjoy the sweet life at The Grove Hotel. Their award winning spa has reopened on a covid-secure basis, so you can relax stylishly and safely… go on, we know you deserve a break!

Natural History Museum Tring

Calling all culture vultures! Museums are back, and Natural History Museum Tring will be our first stop on our tour when they reopen on 18th May. The galleries give visitors the chance to get up close to some of the worlds rarest species and learn about our natural world, and you can see over 4,000 different taxidermy animals, from kangaroos to polar bears.

The Snow Centre

You needn’t miss the skiing holidays this year if you head to the slopes at The Snow Centre, home to a 160m main slope and the largest indoor lesson slope. Perfect for a day out with friends, from snowboarding to skiing, you can practice your new skills here ready for winter in England.

St Albans Cathedral

If you’ve seen our Instagram recently, you’ll know we’re fond of showing off St Albans Cathedral's exterior, and it’s become one of the most recognisable images in Herts. Now tours are resuming on 17th May, we're itching to see the English gothic interiors, medieval paintings, and discover the 1700 years of stories this magnificent building holds with to their expert guides.

Hatfield House

*Please note Hatifeld House will reopen on the 3rd June*

Hatfield House is opening it’s doors once again – and after binge watching The Crown again, we’re certainly ready to see the famous filming locations IRL. Featured in music videos to famous Hollywood films, Hatfield House was also the childhood home to Elizabeth I, so you can expect to find a treasure trove of historic mementos and period detail on your visit.

St Albans Museums

St Albans Museum's doors are open again for an educational yet exciting day out. At Verulamium Museum, they're operating with a pre-booking system so we suggest you book your tickets in advance, but at St Albans Museum + Gallery, you can visit any time without pre-booking. However, if you want to visit their latest exhibition Cabaret Mechanical Marvels, we suggest you buy your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Hertford Theatre

Enter stage left! The theatre is back in our lives again thanks to Hertford Theatre's grand reopening on 17th May. Whether you missed the panto traditions and want to celebrate or you're looking for a family friendly show ready to entertain the little ones, there's a show for you in Hertford this spring. The show must go on...
