Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green, Hertfordshire’s farmers’ markets are some of the best we’ve seen!

Think delicious produce, seasonal fruit and veg, locally reared meat and eggs, and a friendly face to talk to about the best way to cook it all for a sensational supper. Foodies, be warned - our round up of some of the best farmers’ markets in Hertfordshire is sure to set stomachs rumbling!

Tring Farmers’ Market – every second and fourth Saturday of the month

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy local. And that's kind of the same thing. Tring’s Market Place dates back to the early 14th century, and has reopened. Come down every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month in Tring Church Square from 9 to 12.30pm. Berkhamsted Farmers’ Market – every third Thursday of the month

Put every third Thursday of the month in your diary for a visit to the pretty market town of Berkhamsted. The popular farmers’ market offers food fresh from the producers and hot snacks to keep you going along the way. Hertford Farmers' Market – every second Saturday of the month

Take you taste buds on an adventure in the centre of the historic market town of Hertford. Chat away to the local producers and find out about the latest seasonal produce and recipe ideas, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for Sawbridgeworth Brewery for the perfect pairing of local food and drink. Head to Hertford

St Albans Food and Drink Market -  every second Sunday of the month

It's almost impossible for me to romaine calm at a farmers market. Take a stroll around the St Albans market and enjoy a vibrant shopping experience just opposite the Town Hall. The farmers market is open the second Sunday of each month, from 08:00 to 14:00. The market will be at a reduced capacity, 25 traders in all, spaced out along all of St Peters St and into Market Place to allow room for social distancing. Sensational treats in St Albans

Harpenden Farmers’ Market – every fourth Sunday of the month

With its independent shops, restaurants and cosy pubs, Harpenden is a perfect destination for a lazy Sunday. Combine this with a monthly farmers’ market and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped into a foodie’s dream! Welwyn Garden City Fine Food and Craft Market – first and third Saturday of the month

Whether it’s gifts for friends or for your own table, the Welwyn Garden City food and craft market has a little of everything. Talk to local producers about delicious food and drink, or while away an hour or two perusing hand-made crafts. Take a wander in Welwyn Garden City

Beechwood Fine Foods

Set in the heart of the market town of Tring, this farm shop is well worth a visit. Snap up locally baked breads, cured meats and ham and a wide range of British cheeses. Save space in your bag for the award-winning range of jams and preserves, which are hand-made on site! Hatfield Market

Rose are red, we’re not blue, as Hatfield General Market has re-opened, woo! From 27 June the market opened following government guidelines to ensure everyone can shop safely. Weekly trading will has resumed every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 4pm. The market normally has around 13 stalls offering a variety of seasonal products including fruit and veg, along with jewellery, fish, clothing, gifts. With a new look, new stalls and free tote bags for customers Hatfield Market is back and better than ever! Happiness in Hatfield.
