Health & well-being in Hertfordshire

Josh Carter
24th December 2018

And breathe...and relax. It's time to focus on your health and well-being. To help with this, there are a number of things you can get up to and explore in Hertfordshire to bring peace of mind without having to set foot in a gym!

Camping and Caravanning in Herts

Nothing creates and brings back memories of getting back to nature and escaping it all than camping, and Hertfordshire is perfect for it. The miles of countryside we have are home to many campsites. One of our favourites is Camping and Caravanning Club's Hertford site, as not only is it home to the Ready Camp in the summer, but it makes for the perfect winter getaway too. The picturesque town of Hertford to the north and patchwork fields to explore off to the south are a great backdrop for those crisp dry days. All year round camping

Champneys refuge

No list would be complete without a spa treatment or two and luckily for us in Hertfordshire we have two beautiful Champneys spa retreats on our doorstep! Not only do Champneys Henlow and Champneys Tring offer relaxing treatments, but the settings make for a wonderful stay too, to fully treat yourself and jump out of the norm. The resort in Tring has been home to health and wellness since 1925 and today continues to rejuvenate people to peak mindfulness! Country estate hideaway

The Grove

Continuing the luxurious theme in typical Hertfordshire style, The Grove is an extra special retreat which not only has five star facilities to unwind in, but its the activities you can do at the hotel that make it a true refuge. Whatever your idea of contentment, you can find it at The Grove - on a crisp blue sky day you could take to the golf course, a chilly evening you can take to the fireplace laden restaurants and bars and at any time you can retreat to a beautifully furnished bedroom. Discover sanctuary at The Grove

Snow Centre

With the ski destinations of France, Italy and further far flung destinations most certainly crowded, it is still possible to get the ski lift to happiness. Not only does skiing and snowboarding count as exercise, which is alone good for the mind and body, but the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead is the ideal place to find peace and simply forget about the hassles of life for a short while. With a 160m main slope and guaranteed snow - there's no need to worry about the conditions being anything but cold! Snowy tranquillity in Hemel Hempstead

The Spa at Cottonmill

With warm tones reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest in America - think pines, large windows overlooking the nearby countryside - the private members’ spa is perfect to get your health ship shape. If you want to get your fitness up then head to the pool, gym or one of the many studio classes. If just relaxing is your agenda, then head to the Rose Relaxation Room for immersion into your dreams or to the Salon for that afternoon manicure! Feel like you're bouncing on cotton

Family Holiday Association

All of these ideas should help you relax and have a great time, but for others it can be a lot harder. Summer sunshine at the beach… Exploring somewhere new… A simple few days away with the ones you love… We all know how much happier a break can make us feel. But what if you’ve never had this opportunity? So many families are trapped in terrible situations, and they too need a reason to smile. We proudly support and work with the Family Holiday Association and with your help they can support a family to enjoy time away to relax and take away stress even for a short while.
