Guy Fawkes Festival & Fireworks

2nd November - 3rd November 2019

Celebrate the legend of Guy Fawkes at the home of gunpowder at Waltham Abbey, starting with family fun from 2pm and spectacular Fireworks for all in the evening.

Celebrate the legend of Guy Fawkes at the home of gunpowder at Waltham Abbey, starting with family fun from 2pm and spectacular Fireworks for all in the evening (last entry 6pm).

The family-themed Guy Fawkes Experience revisits the famous plot to blow up the parliament of the Stuart King, James 1, with a short theatre production – ‘The Ghost of Guy Fawkes’ and with Professor Nitrate’s Mad Lab interactive shows explaining the science of explosions! Plus, there are hands on-take home activities such as slime making and lantern making.

A tractor trailer guided tour is a wonderful opportunity to explore the history of our 300 year old site, which was once a Gunpowder factory, for a nominal fee. These leave at 2:30pm and 3:30pm - weather permitting. There is also our rocket vault, armoury, and exhibitions that reveal the stories and science behind our Gunpowder heritage!

Enjoy fairground rides, food stalls, our Café, and a bar. On both Saturday and Sunday the festivities conclude with flaming arrows from ‘The Royal Golden Eagle Medieval Archers’ and a large, epic fireworks display at 7pm from ForceFX, the company behind special effects of movies, TV, and music festivals.

LAST ENTRY = 6pm - but gates will close earlier if we reach capacity.

Book in advance online to ensure entry. Purchase your tickets now at: https://bit.ly/2mcgji5 PLEASE NOTE – No fireworks are allowed on site, including sparklers.

Space inside our inside activities such as “The Mad Lab”, “The Theatre” and “The Spinks Gallery” is offered on a first come, first serve basis and queuing systems are in place, so we advise turning up early to allow plenty of time.
