Much Hadham Forge Museum is housed in listed buildings dating back to 1480, and set in a delightful cottage garden. It’s a village museum for a remarkable village. Alongside excellent displays on local archaeology and social history, you’ll be able to see into the lives of the blacksmiths, great merchants, and their families who lived in these rooms.
Discover an atmospheric world of crooked corridors, a panelled archive room and breath taking Elizabethan wall paintings of National importance.
We still have the original, storybook-picture of a forge, and displays explore the craft, mythology and daily life of the village blacksmith. A light and airy extension hosts art exhibitions, craft activities, and our small shop and tea room. And we’re family-friendly – children just love our House Detective Bags! We recommend you allow 45 to 90 minutes for your visit.
